VF.This is a British sixpence coin from 1961, featuring the first definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Mary Gillick.
Denomination: Six pence, also known as a "tanner".
Reverse Design: The coin features a design of four interlinked plants, representing the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom: a Tudor rose for England, a thistle for Scotland, a shamrock for Northern Ireland, and a leek for Wales.
Composition: The coin is made of a cupro-nickel alloy (75% copper, 25% nickel), as the composition changed from silver in 1946.
Circulation: First minted in 1551, the sixpence circulated until decimalization in 1971 and was demonetized in 1980.
