Victorian 9ct Gold & Carnelian Locket 

This lovely, Victorian, 9ct gold fronted, shield shaped locket features a red carnelian stone on the one side with a small 9ct gold blank cartouche in the centre and is beautifully engraved with a stem of ivy leaves on the other. The frames on many of the antique lockets from this period featured frames made from a base metal for added strength, with solid gold back & fronts. This wonderful locket is in great condition and probably dates to the 1880's, it has a strong hinge and closes nicely. It measures 2cm x 3,3cm (4,4cm with hanger) and weighs 8,6g.
