A Victorian hand-painted large cake plate or server. It is decorated with a series of hibiscus flowers trailing around towards the edge. The plate is ribbed around the centre and its edges scalloped. The piece is unmarked except for the initial of the painter on the back. In terms of style and quality, it is likely to be late Victorian English porcelain. The diameter of the plate is about 23 cm.
I also have four matching trios in this pattern available – listed separately.
The plate is in good condition considering its age with no chips, cracks or crazing. However, there is almost complete loss of gilding to the rim. Also, typical of Victorian porcelain, there are some impurities in the porcelain (black and brown specks) caused by the coal fires used to make this plate.
Postage is R50 through SAPO or R100 with PostNet. Combinations are done at R10 extra per item. Please add 3% to the sale price if you wish your parcel to be insured against loss by SAPO. I offer FREE postage through SAPO for porcelain orders of R500 or more, so do have a look at my other listings for possible combinations.
Payment within 3 days, please, or else a SNC will be filed to allow me to relist the item. Please do study the photos below carefully, familiarize yourself with the item’s condition and be sure that this is what you want.
