A beautiful antique teapot. In very good condition, considering the age, with slight denting to the base rim and a bit to the body, some scratches but not detracting from its beauty. There is some tearing to the metal under the lid hinge (about 1cm on each side) but it is not noticable. It looks like the bottom has been fixed/resealed at the edges but I am not an expert!
I enjoyed doing some research and found that it was made in Carnarvon county between 1890-1907 which confirms its Victorian looks: the typical 'swan neck' to the spout, the 'acorn and oak leaf' on top of the lid. The etchings of leaves and flowers is typical to the locality. The handle has two sections of bone to prevent it getting too hot.
Underneath there is a verification number 518 followed by 99, the name of the pewterer John Short and above that there is a mark that looks like 4. I have not cleaned it.
