Victorian Silver Chatelaine Scissors Case (1899)
This scarce, lovely, antique repousse solid silver case or sheath for scissors, is fitted with a short chain and small loop to attach a chatelaine, and was made in Birmingham, England in 1899 by silversmiths 'Levi & Salaman' (L&S). The case is beautifully decorated on both sides with embossed flowers and attractive patterns and is in excellent condition with clear hallmarks. It measures 3cm x 6,3cm (12cm with chain), weighs 14,3g and would have originally been one of the numerous accessories a lady would attach to her chatelaine.
