Scarce Victorian Silver 'Runcible Spoon' (1851)

This is a lovely example of a rare, early Victorian silver fiddle pattern 'runcible' spoon (pickle or chutney spoon or spork). It is English hallmarked for London 1851 and made by silversmiths 'Joseph & Albert Savory' (JSAS). The spoon is in excellent condition with a nice solid feel and weight to it and is monogramed on the handle. It measures 15,3cm in length and weighs 41,8g.

Note:  The runcible spoon appears in the poem by 'Edward Lear', 'The Owl & The Pussy Cat' ("They dined on mince and slices of quince, which they ate with a runcible spoon")

Please feel free to email me with any queries. Please look closely at the pictures provided as they are of the actual item and form a vital part of the description.
