Victorian Sterling Silver Chatelaine (1899)
This lovely, solid silver, antique chatelaine was made in Chester, England in 1899 by silversmiths 'Robert Pringle & Sons' (R.P). It is beautifully decorated with embossed and cut-out classical detail, featuring 'Neptune/Poseidon' above three rearing horses and below that there are two cherubs or cupids playing a harp. The five silver hanging chains have floral decorated links with a silver hallmarked 'Albert lobster' clasp on each end. This collectable piece is in excellent condition with clear hallmarks and would have originally been hung, by the large hook on the back, on a lady's belt with sewing accessories and other small necessary household objects. It measures 20,5cm in length x 6cm at its widest and weighs 75g.
