This elegant and aged word tea/coffee set is for most pieces silverplate marked and plated on brass
The plate has lifted across all pieces showing an attractive brass layer
With some pieces the plate has lifted evenly whilst others show plate wear in patches
The set is in overall good aged condition; the finial of the coffee pot probably dislocated and shows to have been fused to its position

The SPIRIT KETTLE
During the late 1600s the innovation of tea drinking was at its peak
Tea was expensive, tea leaves had to be used sparingly
The Spirit Kettle served as water warmer to top up the tea pot and get the most out of the tea leaves in the tea pot
The extravagant, ornate Spirit Kettle did not always match the overall design of the tea set
Apart from their utilitarian purpose, these were indispensable during formal dinner and tea parties, providing a definite display of wealth and spectacle
