A rare Vienna Secession piece designed by Gisela Baronin von Falke for E.Bakalowits & Söhne. Manufactured by Argentor-Werke.  Gisela Baronin von Falke, also known as Gisela Falke von Lilienstein (born 1871), was an Austrian designer associated with the Vienna Secession movement. She studied at the Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Applied Art) from 1895 to 1904, where she was mentored by Josef Hoffmann. Her work, which spanned ceramics, glassware, jewelry, lighting, and furniture, was exhibited at Vienna Secessionist exhibitions and international expositions, including the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900, where her designs were displayed in a room designed by Hoffmann.

Highly regarded in her time, her creations were featured in influential publications such as Das Interieur, Wiener Mode, and Dokumente der Frauen, with journalists like Berta Zuckerkandl praising her contributions. She also collaborated with the renowned Viennese firm E. Bakalowits & Söhne, producing elegant glassware in the Art Nouveau and Secessionist styles. One of her notable works, represented here, is a glass jar with a matching cover, created Circa 1900, which features a clear glass body with vertical optical fluting, complemented by a brass mount and lid adorned with geometric motifs. Her designs, celebrated for their balance of form and function, continue to be featured in international exhibitions and auctions, reflecting her lasting influence on early 20th-century design. In excellent condition apart from age- appropriate wear to the handles.  No dents or dings to the metal and no cracks or chips to the glass.  Pease see images above for more detail.

Size : 20cm (h) x 22cm (w) [including handles]
