Village Deep Native Hospital
Original, larger size (21,5x16,5cm) photograph, ca. 1900, from the studio of G.A Watson, cnr. Rissik and Fox Streets, Johannesburg. Annotated on the verso 'Village Deep Hospital Staff'. An interesting piece of Johannesburg, Witwatersrand mining and police (note the uniformed Johannesburg Native Police officers) history, by a turn of the century photographer who captured many iconic images during the Boer War. Watson advertised his services in The South African Mining Journal as 'EXPERT COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHER .. Photographs of all the Leading Mines on the Rand. Enlargements a Speciality.'
