Author - Neil Grant
Publisher - Pyramid Books: 1990, First edition.
A very good quarto-landscape book in a very good dustjacket.
The dustjacket has been price-clipped, otherwise also Near Fine. Map illustrated end-papers. 234 pages including the index.
This book concentrates on the approximate last 150 years prior to 1989, when development was at its greatest and the advent of photography provided a delightful visual legacy of London and its life.
Many of the old photographs in the book are from the Francis Frith Collection.
In 1860, Francis Frith an ex-grocer and a self made millionaire, set himself the target of employing the new process of photography to record the life of Britain's cities, towns and villages.
The book also features colour photographs taken at the same location and from the same position as the old image, to show how the view has changed over the years.
