VINTAGE 1920 BRITISH COIN SET IN SILVER RING
Very interesting piece of jewellery that is also a collectable. This is a real British threepence coin from 1920 (the date is on the coin). The front of the coin bears the words and marks "George V D.G.BRITT OMN REX FD IND IMP". This is abbreviated Latin and translates into "George V, by the Grace of God King of all Britain, defender of the faith, Emperor of India". Not a humble claim! Threepences before 1920 were all 0,925 silver and then in 1920, they changed to 0,500. This coin was right on the change-over date so is probably 0,500. The coin has been set into a raised cage-like openwork sterling silver frame. The inside of the shank bears the hallmark "SIL". Rather unusual collectable that is also a fascinating conversation piece in the way of jewellery.
