This little mantle clock is a gem, the movement is working and it chime on the quarter, half and hour. The clock is by a UK company called FOREIGN, that manufactured clocks for the export market, the movement in it is German. It has Westminster chimes and has a key stamped made in England.
The name "FOREIGN" marking (usually under the 6 on the clock face) stems from an option that was specified in the UK's Merchandise Marks Act, 1926. If FOREIGN it appears on both the movement and case (dial) may indicate that both case and movement are of German manufacture. (Note that while the majority of clocks so marked are German, the requirement applied beyond that country.)
The glass cover is missing. The metal ornamentation on the bottoms just adds to its deco feel. The clock dates from about 1928 - 33. There is a sliver name plate on the bottom part of the case dated 23-06 1935. Dia. are 40 cm x 14 cm x 22 cm.
