VINTAGE 1940S BELL & HOWELL 134 SPORTSTER 8MM CINE MOVIE CAMERA - FULLY MANUAL - WORKING

THIS IS AN AWESOME BELL & HOWELL 134 SPORTSTER 8MM FILM CINE MOVIE CAMERA FROM THE 1940S.
ONE OF THE MOST BELOVED 8MM MOVIE CAMERAS OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY.
FULLY MANUAL NO POWER NEEDED NO BATTERIES. AND AFTER ALMOST 70 YEARS STILL APPEAR TO BE IN WORKING CONDITION!
Marketed in England by Bell & Howell from 1939 till 1950, the camera was manufactured from cast aluminium.
IT HAS A RARE AND COLLECTABLE REMOVABLE F2.5-F16 0.5 INS TAYLOR & HOBSON ANASTIGMAT 13MM STANDARD LENS. THIS LENS SELLS ALONE FOR AROUND R1000 ON EBAY.
This windup camera shoots dual run 8mm. Only half of the film is exposed at a time, then you would flip the reels and expose the other half. When processed, the film is cut in half and developed.
The viewfinder in the right-most pic has a frame guide which can be flipped in or out of view. The two knobs right below the viewfinder can be squeezed together to release the lens.
Below that is the run switch or shutter button: up for single frame, down for continuous APPEARS TO BE WORKING!.
Another interesting piece about this camera is the twisting chart on the left side which tells the user what the best f-stop is given different scenarios: frames per second, film speed, time of day, and subject (clouds/sea/snow, open landscapes, average subjects, close-ups/buildings, deep woods/ravines) STILL TURNING!
On the right side of the camera is the hand crank (STILL TURNING), a round film speed setting (STILL TURNING SET TO 16 Frames per second for 8mm), and reel timer or frame counter (STILL TURNING SET TO S FOR START). The film speed setting can be changed while filming for a speed ramp. The reel timer can be manually set, it runs from S to F with 0-25 in between those.

Size: 125 x 100 x 50 mm
Weight: 750 g

CONDITION: The camera is in good condition for 70 years old. The shutter appears to work for single photo and continuous movie. The inside film loading area is in good condition.  Not tested by filming and then developing the film. The lens optics appear clean and clear. Has some surface rust on outside of crank handle.  Viewfinder has some surface glaze but is not visible looking through the viewfinder.

BELL & HOWELL:  Bell & Howell was founded in 1907 by two projectionists, and was a manufacturer of motion picture equipment. In the 1930s, Bell & Howell introduced their first amateur 8mm movie camera. The company merged with Böwe Systec Inc. in 2003 to become Böwe Bell & Howell, which provides document processing, microfilmers, scanners, and financial services.
