ON AUCTION IS THIS VINTAGE 1950S AUSTRIAN POMPADOUR PETIT POINT MINIATURE PERFUME BOTTLE WITH REFILL FUNNEL.  IT FEATURES INTRICATE NEEDLEPOINT EMBROIDERY OF PINK ROSES ON A BLACK BACKGROUND, FRAMED BY GOLD-FINISHED FILIGREE METALWORK.
 
THESE MINIATURE BOTTLES WERE POPULAR IN THE 1950S AND 1960S AS FUNCTIONAL VANITY ITEMS OR DECORATIVE ACCESSORIES FOR HANDBAGS.
 
Primarily crafted in Vienna, Austria, during the 1940s to 1960s. Produced under the brand name "Viennese Handicraft Pompadour," these miniature bottles are famous for their elegant, old-world craftsmanship. The brand Pompadour was known for its high-quality perfumes. It is a great way to add a touch of history to your collection and appreciate the beauty of antique perfume bottles. PETIT POINT (FRENCH FOR "SMALL STITCH") IS A HIGHLY DETAILED, MINIATURE-LIKE FORM OF NEEDLEPOINT EMBROIDERY. BECAUSE THE STITCHES ARE SO TINY AND DENSE, FINISHED PIECES HAVE A SMOOTH, PAINTERLY LOOK THAT RESEMBLES A MINIATURE PAINTING RATHER THAN TRADITIONAL EMBROIDERY.
