This is a c1950's gold plated KIGU Bon Voyage! travel powder compact made in England.
It is designed to look like a suitcase, complete with buckle straps and corner guards. The top also includes a space to engrave the name of the lucky recipient. In this case this compact has been engraved with the once owner's name.
The engine turned design has a remarkable level of detailing not found today. Inside, the upper glass mirror is pristine with no signs of hazing or silver loss.
The lower powder compartment has a hinged cover door with a slide latch. The door is branded with KIGU's logo and in script "Bon Voyage!" - the product name for this compact.
The sifter net in the powder well and powder puff is sadly missing from this compact.
It is in a good vintage condition with signs of use and age but no damage and all hinges and clasps work perfectly. It measures approximately 8.5 cm X 7 cm and has a height of about 1.3 cm.
