For sale is a vintage MANSFIELD 8mm Editor Viewer with Case and Little Gem Splicer. The editor viewer is model P-950 and is compatible with 8mm movie film. The editor viewer is a great mid century design made of die-case aluminum and painted a taupe color. The left and right rewind arms swivel outward and there is a small viewer screen. It uses a 30 watt lamp. The film is manually fed either forward or reverse using the rotating knobs on the rewind arms. There is a focusing knob on the left side of the viewer case and a framing knob below the film track and right in front of the splicer. On the inside of the viewer is stamped the manufacturing date "Nov 7 1958". A Mansfield Little Gem splicer is attached to the base. The splicer Patent 2,611,723 was issued September 23, 1952. The splicer is designed for 8 mm and 16 mm film. The splicer is made of work hardened stainless steel. There is a round hole in the base for holding glue bottles. The carrying/storage case is made of fiberboard with a wood frame. There is a plastic handle attached on top and two brass latches on the side for securing the top with the base. Sale does NOT include the instructions. The editor viewer is approximately 7 inches tall, 12 inches across the front (with the rewind arms rotated inward), and 11 inches from front to back. With the rewind arms extended, it is approximately 17-1/2 inches across. The carrying case is approximately 8-1/2 inches tall), 13-1/4 inches wide, and 12-1/4 inches from front to back. The total weight is approximately 8-1/2 pounds. The viewer screen is approximately 2-3/4 by 2-1/4 inches. This item is in excellent used condition. It is very clean with very little use marks to the viewer. The power cord is in excellent condition with no issues. The splicer has some wear marks and a little glue residue but fully functional. The carrying case has some wear to the exterior. The top of the case fits a little bit askew to the bottom but it attaches fine and holds together with no problems. But if you want a great looking piece of vintage film equipment then this is right for you. This really is a great vintage piece and has a lifetime or two left in it.
