Vintage 1960s Bang & Olufsen Danish Beomaster 1000 Amplifier Receiver Tuner Lights Up but not tested with Speakers
AWESOME VINTAGE 1960S BANG & OLUFSEN DANISH BEOMASTER 1000 AMPLIFIER RCEIVER AND TUNER. MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 1964 TO 1971 WITH A DESIGN BY JACOB JENSEN.
The Beomaster 1000 was the first serious Hi-Fi receiver in the range that used only transistors. Only available in one cabinet style, the Beomaster 1000 included an FM-only radio tuner and a 2x20W stereo amplifier. 20W was a lot of power in the mid 60s, especially from such a compact and elegant unit. A notice was printed on the rear panel warning that loudspeakers could be damaged if they were not suitable for this level of output.
The styling work was the first project at B&O for Jacob Jensen, a designer whose work would later become very influential over all B&Os products. The controls take the piano key concept made popular in large European radios and re-arrange it into something new. The keys are placed along the top of the set and are marked with symbols on both the top and front, so that the set can be used on both a table and a shelf. As well as source selection, the keys also controll two pairs of loudspeakers and filters for rumble and scratch.
The radio tuner section, being FM only, was able to be focused on providing really good results. As receiver two record players can be connected.

CONDITION: FEW SCRAPES. SYMBOLS ON PIANO KEYS FADED ON TOP. ONE KNOB MISSING. ALL PIANO KEYS PRESS IN AND OUT AS THEY SHOULD. BEOMASTER LIGHTS UP WHEN PLUGGED IN. (CONNECTED NEW 3 POINT PLUG BUT CABLE SHORT) NOT TESTED WITH SPEAKERS, RADIO NOR RECORD PLAYERS.
