VINTAGE 1960S KNIFE & FORK CARVING SET MADE OUT OF WOOD WITH INTRICATE CARVED FISH SCALE DETAIL AND BRASS ACCENTS IN THE SHAPE OF A FISH. THE KNIFE SLIDES OUT THE HEAD AND THE FORK PART SLIDES OUT OF THE TAIL.
IT IS A CARVED WOODEN FISH HOLDER WITH CARVING KNIFE AND FORK THAT SLOT INSIDE. IT HAS BRASS FINS THAT ACT AS A 2 LEG STAND ON BASE. IT IS ABLE TO STAND ON ITS OWN AS A PIECE OF DECORATION WHEN NOT IN USE. UNIQUE AND USEFUL GIFT FOR YOUR CELEBRATION TABLE.
This set of 2 utensils can be used in carving, whether in the kitchen or at table or on a fishing trip. The knife handle is the tail of the fish. The head is the 2 pronged fork. Brass rings are in place at each end of the main body. A brass ring with feet allow the set to stand upright but also act as hand guards when in use. It has a brass mouth.
THIS SET WAS HANDMADE IN INDIA DURING THE MID TWENTIETH CENTURY. SIMILAR ONES ONLINE SELL FOR A HEFTY SUM. PLEASE HAVE A LOOK.
SIZE:
The complete fish measures: 40 cm in length by 8 cm high and is 3 cm at the base fins.
The knife blade measures: 19 cm long, with handle it is 28 cm long.
The 2 pronged fork measures: 15 cm long, with the handle 26 cm long.
Weight 460g.
CONDITION. There is some patina of age to the brass and the stainless steel of the knife and fork (see pictures). Both utensils are in good solid and functioning condition. They slot into place easily and securely.
