THE VOIGTLANDER VITO AUTOMATIC 1 IS A 35MM FILM CAMERA KNOWN FOR ITS FIXED 50MM F/2.8 LANTHAR COLOUR COATED LENS, PRODUCED IN WEST GERMANY DURING THE 1960S. IT'S A RIDGED-BODY CAMERA WITH A PRONTORMATIC 125 SHUTTER, OFFERING SPEEDS FROM 1/30 TO 1/125 PLUS BULB. THE LANTHAR LENS IS PRIZED FOR ITS SHARPNESS AND CLARITY, MAKING IT A SOUGHT-AFTER CAMERA FOR VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPHY ENTHUSIASTS.

CONDITION: CAMERA IN GOOD CONDITION.THE LENS IS CLEAN AND CLEAR. THE SHUTTER WORKS BUT IT WAS NOT PROFESSIONALLY FILM TESTED. LEATER CASE HAS 2 CACKS BUT STILL IN TACT.
VOIGHTLANDER (1756-1971): Founded in 1756 by Johann Christopb Voigatlander in Vienna who made scientific instrument. His son Johann continue the business. In 1840, grandson Wilhelm design the first lens with speed of f3.7 follow with first quality camera using this lens. The company moved to Braunschweig in 1849. Since then camera production became major company business until 1960 when a German camera maker Zeiss Ikon began buying over the company. It took over the company completely in 1965. Due to falling sales, on 4 August 1971 Zeiss-Ikon/Voigtländer-Vertriebsgesellschaft ceased camera production and closed the Voigtländer factory, which employed at the time 2,037 persons.
VITO AUTOMATIC 1 (1960-1968): The Vito Automatic I was first produced in the early 1960's by Voightlander. Just like its predecessor Vito Automatic early models have Lanthar f/2.8 50mm lens, later models have the Color-Lanthar f/2.8 50mm which is esentially the same lens recalculated and with coated for color photography. The shutter is a Prontor Lux shutter 1/30 - 1/500 Bulb on the later models with the Color-Lanthar lens a Prontormatic 125 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, B, X-synchronized shutter was used. The viewfinder is 1:1 Brightline with a red/green indicator to help aid the photographer in knowing if an exposure is possible and inside the appropriate f/stop. If the indicator is showing red, then the photo will either be underexposed or overexposed depending on the situation. Estimated years of production 1960-1968. It was followed briefly by the Vito Automatic II.
