I obtained this vintage piece from a favourite vintage jeweller in Birmingham, Midlands, England. It features a masterfully heart-faceted amethyst in a ring crafted in 9ct yellow gold. The amethyst is a lovely soft purple, with lots of natural inclusions, and is held 6,5mm above the finger in a heart-shaped cage-like structure of delicate strands that allow the maximum amount of light through the stone to emphasise the clarity and colour. The shank is slender and features 4 x small, single cut diamonds claw set 2 each on either side of the heart at the point where the shank meets the amethyst - a pretty sparkling accent! The ring head measures 11mm diameter, and the piece weighs a solid 3,2 grams. The pedigree of the piece is evident in the many hallmarks: the 375 hallmark indicating 9ct gold, the jeweller's signature and number, the Birmingham Assay mark and the date hallmark for 1969. I have had the ring examined and evaluated by an independent jeweller at R15'000, and a certificate to that effect will accompany the ring.
