BLAUPUNKT (1933-2011): Blaupunkt GmbH was a German manufacturer, producing mostly car-audio, radios and other electronic equipment from 1933 until 1 March 2009, when it was sold to Aurelius AG of Germany in 2011 which then filed for bankrupcy in late 2015. The brand, is now managed by GIP Development SARL of Luxembourg. Founded in 1924 in Berlin as "Ideal," the company was acquired by Robert Bosch AG in 1933. IN 1938 IT CHANGED ITS NAME TO "BLAUPUNKT", GERMAN FOR "BLUE POINT" OR "BLUE DOT", AFTER THE BLUE DOT PAINTED ONTO ITS HEADPHONES THAT HAD PASSED QUALITY CONTROL. In 1949, Blaupunkt advertised the first FM-capable car radio. In 1950 an incredible variety of devices emerged including table and other portable radios. The company continued to do very well later on. By the 1960 and 1970s, Blaupunkt had become one of the leading German manufacturers of car radios and car audio equipment. Table radio production at Blaupunkt ended in 1972 but Travel radios still appeared in the catalog in 1974 manufactured in the former Lindau chord factory. Beginning by at least 1974-75, Blaupunkt, in addition to offering their usual German-manufactured radios, offered Japanese-manufactured models: big on features, but appreciably lower in price than the German units.
TEDELEX: Tedelex is an audio equipment distributor, active from Johannesburg since 1946. Tedelex Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd was founded in 1969. The company's line of business includes the manufacturing but later on mainly the distributing of electronic audio and video equipment for home entertainment. Tedelex is today a wholly owned subsidiary of listed company Amalgamated Appliance Holdings Limited.
CROWN COMPANY JAPAN: The Japanese company Crown has been producing audio equipment since the 1950s, but the peak of its popularity in the world came in the eighties, when the companys cassette recorders were successfully sold in various countries. Crown was a audio electronics brand owned by Asahi Musen Denki a Japanese electronics manufacturer established in 1948. In 1970s, CROWN products were supplied to foreign companies under license of foreign brands like Blaupunkt. In 1990s, the company was renamed to Miyakoshi Corporation but soon after ceased the manufacturing the audio electronics.
