SEIKO: The history of begins in 1881, when businessman Kintaro Hattori, then age 22, founded the company. He started out by importing Swiss , and his store swiftly expanded. Hattori then started making clocks under the brand name "Seikosha," which was ultimately abbreviated to "Seiko." In the late 1960s, Seiko became the first business to create a , which they called the "Astron." Many Seiko watch owners have experienced the longevity firsthand, with their timepieces lasting years if not decades. Some of these watches even become cherished heirlooms, passed down through generations with great sentimental value even if the watch itself did not cost as much as its Swiss counterparts.
