Vintage 1970s Seiko Quartz Ladies Cocktail Watch Needs Battery

A JAPANESE MADE VINTAGE 1970S SEIKO QUARTZ LADIES COCKTAIL WATCH. HAS A NICE SEOKO MARKED CLASP BRACELET. NOT TESTED. NEEDS NEW BATTERY.
 
In the watch world, Seiko is a well-liked brand, and for good reasons too. The word "Seiko" means "exquisite" in Japanese, which accurately describes how their products are manufactured. Seiko is a pioneer in the watch industry, and their timepieces are known for their dependability, sturdiness, and fine craftsmanship.
 
Cocktail watches also called Evening Watches became popular in the 1920s for high society ladies to use as a timepiece and as a statement piece. Smaller in size they were often bejewelled. Today the watches are still coveted for their beautiful craftsmanship and quality - the skill used in making early examples simply cannot be rivalled by modern machine-making watches.

CONDITION: SCRAPES TO GLASS. CAN SET TIME BUT I COULD NOT SET THE DATE. NOT FULLY TESTED. NEEDS A NEW BATTERY.
 
SEIKO:
The history of Seiko begins in 1881, when businessman Kintaro Hattori, then age 22, founded the company. He started out by importing Swiss watches and his store swiftly expanded. Hattori then started making clocks under the brand name "Seikosha," which was ultimately abbreviated to "Seiko." 
In the late 1960s, Seiko became the first business to create a quartz-powered watch which they called the "Astron."
Many Seiko watch owners have experienced the longevity firsthand, with their timepieces lasting years if not decades. Some of these watches even become cherished heirlooms, passed down through generations with great sentimental value even if the watch itself did not cost as much as its Swiss counterparts.
