This vintage studio pottery bowl has a rustic, earthy charm that captures the 1970s aesthetic beautifully. Hand-built and signed on the base with the initials S.A. and dated 2-77, it is a genuine one-off from February 1977 making it a piece with nearly half a century of history behind it. The two-tone glaze shifts from a rich ochre brown to a soft cream, with natural crackle throughout the surface adding to its character.
Measuring approximately 15cm in diameter at its widest point and 11cm tall, the bowl has a versatile, rounded form. It could be enjoyed as a decorative display piece, or repurposed as a short, stocky vase. The unglazed foot shows gentle wear consistent with its age, while the glaze pooling and pin holing inside point to its handmade studio origins.
Condition is very good vintage, with no chips or cracks. The glaze shows overall crazing, which is stable and part of the bowls natural ageing. A tactile and honest piece of 1970s studio pottery that blends form, function, and history in equal measure.
