Vintage 1981 - Smurf Durham Locomotive Train Set - Battery Operated - Licensed

Set is complete and operates on 2x C-cell batteries (not included). Box is still in fair condition for 40-year old with no major damage except for vacuum-formed tray inside. - see pics.

Visible faults include the loco sticker on left side not great, one track has a connecting lug broken and missing (does not affect overall functionality), as well as the short blue coal tender has a "fake decorative blue oval wheel" broken off as can be seen on the set picture (does not affect operation of set.

It could only run on it's own without coaches so I had to tighten a small plastic gear with Loctite as it was loose on an axis, greased the gears for smoother running. It "wheelies" if started without the coaches and tender attached - quite powerful. Runs great and headlamp works as can be seen on the picture. Safest way to stop it without damage is use your stationary finger or a rod about two centimeter from the side of the track so that the switch bumps your finger/rod and turns off when it whizzes past.
