Parker introduced its standardized quality control date coding system across US factories starting around late 1979. The letters from the slogan "QUALITY PEN" were assigned sequentially to distinct production years within a 10-year cycle:
The Letter "T": Corresponds to the year 1985.The Letter "E": Represents the first quarter (Q1) of that year. During this production era, Parker systematically filed down pieces of the letter "E" stamp for each passing quarter (changing to C, L, and I respectively).The original Parker Vector model series was first developed as the "RB-1" rollerball in 1981, with the matching fountain pen variant formally joining the product catalog in 1984. 
This 1985 production sample represents one of the very earliest production batches of the Vector fountain pen line before manufacturing heavily shifted to international facilities.
