This vintage English ring is a classic combination of a central sapphire and diamond frame. An oval-faceted sapphire solitaire is presented on elongated 9ct yellow gold claws. Three of the claws are slightly shorter than the other - not missing, just shorter. They reach the top of the sapphire but don't curl around on top. The ring has been checked by a jeweller and the stones are firmly in place without danger of moving. However, please look at the photographs for peace of mind. 10 x small round cut diamonds are set in 9ct white gold in the frame surrounding the sapphire. The colour contrast between the deep blue sapphire, warm yellow gold and the white of the diamonds set in white gold is lovely. The sapphire is raised 5mm above the finger, in the centre of the 9mm wide x 11mm long ring head. The ring head is supported on a slender 9ct yellow gold shank that forks on the shoulders into 3 prongs. The central 'prong' has an unexpected little feature of raised hearts on either side. I obtained this piece from a favourite vintage jeweller in Birmingham; the ring bears the 375 hallmark indicating 9ct gold, the London Assay mark and the date 1992, and it weighs 2,11 grams.
Ring head: 11mm across x 9mm long x 5mm high Weight: 2,11 grams Ring size: 7 3/4 ('P 1/2' in SA or British sizing)
Please look at the specifications carefully as the photography enlarges the jewellery!
