VINTAGE 9CT YELLOW GOLD STUD EARRINGS WITH FILIGREE DETAIL AROUND A BEZEL SET OVAL FACETED AMETHYST. 375
These beautiful little vintage stud earrings feature an oval faceted amethyst bezel set in 9ct yellow gold. Decorative filigree openwork scrolling frames the gemstone. The colour combination is positively royal, and the designer's decision to leave the amethyst open at the back, so that it is held only on the edges by the bezel, allows light to come through lending sparkle and liveliness to the gemstone. Dainty rather than hefty, the stud earrings measure 11mm wide x 13mm long, and weigh 1.83 grams together. The detail of the scroll-like filigree is a particularly unusual feature. Detailed and beautiful, a classic vintage English design. Not sure as to the origin of the earrings but I bought them from a favourite vintage jeweller in London, England.
