Vintage Mid-Century Art Deco condiment server featuring a hinged chrome lid with a leaf design and clear glass insert.  Serving condiments, sugar, or cheese. Marking: - (CHASE and USA) Chase Brass & Copper Company.  Deco metalware during the 1930's and 1940's.

1929 The Great Wall street crash hit, and the market for industrial copper piping collapsed overnight. Chase found themselves with massive factories, tons of brass raw materials and no buyers. Instead of shutting down, they made a brilliant pivot:  They launched the Chase Specialties division.  They hired the most famous freelance modernist designs of the era - including Russel Wright, Walter Von Nessen and Rockwell Kent.  The designs took the raw brass and finished it with a brilliant, mirror-like chromium plating.  They turned out over 500 sleek, affordable luxury items for the home.
