Vintage! Ashtray or Vide Poche in Green Onyx.
Vintage! Green Onyx stone ashtray. Natural onyx was known to the ancient Greeks and Romans by the 1st Century and comes from India and South America. It is popular because its layers can be cut to show a color contrast. An awesome item to have even if you do not smoke. Excellent receptacle for keys, small change and knick knacks. Vide poche in French means a small bowl or container kept in a convenient location to empty your pockets when you walk through the door. Half the felt lining on the base has broken off over time. (See pics). The ashtray itself has some chips consistent to wear and use.
