IMPORTANT COLLECTOR'S NOTE:
This listing is for a vintage mechanical electrical generator only. It contains NO explosives, combustibles, or hazardous materials. It is sold strictly as a historical display piece or theatrical prop.
Item Overview:
Up for auction is a classic piece of industrial and military history: a Beethoven Dynamo Condenser Exploder Mk II . These robust machines were the standard issue for both military demolition units and the mining industry (gold and coal) from the World War II era through to the 1960s.
Unlike earlier plunger-style detonators, the "Beethoven" uses an internal dynamo. The operator would turn the handle to generate a high-voltage charge stored in a capacitor, which was then released via the "Fire" button.
Key Features:
Make: Beethoven (Likely manufactured by Arbra Instruments Ltd, UK).
Markings: The casing features the moulded text "EXPLODER DYNAMO CONDENSER Mk II" and the code WA 1076 , indicating military/government issue.
Casing: Heavy-duty black Bakelite/composite material designed to survive rugged field conditions.
Accessories: Includes the original leather carrying case and strap (scarce to find these together).
Mechanism: Features the fold-out crank handle and connection terminals.
