Vintage Bentwood Saddlers Clamp - Leather Worker Tool - Vice Knee Held Horse Tack
Large clamps, also known as a pair of clams, were used to hold leather in place while it was being stitched. In the workshop, the saddler sat and held the clamps between their legs and placed the leather in the vice-like grip of the tool. With the leather secured, the saddler had both his hands free for hand stitching. - Source: National Museum of Australia
