Vintage! Blue And White Retro Ceramic Chinese Tea Cup.

Stunning retro vintage blue and white hand painted Chinese tea cup. Chinese tea cups do not have handles because originally it made it easier to stack and ship without the handles. Additionally, the size of the traditional tea cup made handles impractical. Tea in the Orient was usually served at a much lower temperature and when it moved to Europe the European custom was a higher temperature in order to dissolve the sugar faster (and maybe also because of the cold weather) so they added handles. The cup is in a very good condition.

SIZE : 8cm tall x 6.5cm diameter.
