Classic and beautifully understated, this vintage pudding or mixing bowl was produced by Burleigh Ware (Burgess & Leigh Ltd) in Burslem, England, most likely in the late 1940s to early 1950s. It features a thick-walled ironstone body finished in a warm cream glaze, with the traditional utilitarian form Burleigh became known for in the mid-20th century. Unlike the numbered reproduction series released later, this piece is part of the original production line.
Stamped clearly on the base with the Burleigh Ware mark, the bowl has a clean silhouette and generous proportions ideal for functional use or display. The creamy glaze pairs well with both vintage and contemporary interiors, especially rustic or farmhouse kitchens. This is the kind of piece that quietly tells its story through form and weight, rather than flourish.
Very good vintage condition overall, with no chips or cracks. Minor discolouration in places and a visible base glaze crack that appears to have occurred during firing. The unglazed base shows natural age-related wear. The base is also impressed with Made in England and the number 18, referencing the original factory mould. Approximate dimensions: 19.5 cm diameter (top), 9 cm (base), and 13.5 cm tall.
