Grouse claw brooches came from a Scottish tradition during the Victorian era. Scottish men would pin them on their kilts for good luck, particularly on hunting trips.
The feet are often adorned with gemstones or coloured glass, and some have additional embellishments like the stag head.
It has a full set of hallmarks. The maker's mark is 'WBs' which was a mark used by the Ward Brothers from Edinburgh. This particular mark was used from 1958-1964. More research would be needed for the other hallmarks. The silver plating shows quite a bit of wear.
The clasp is in a good working condition. This brooch pin measures approximately 8 cm X 3.5 cm.
It has an Amber Cairngorm stone set in a stag head holder.
