This is a beautifully modelled vintage Capodimonte Madonna bust hand finished in Italy and marked with the Capodimonte green leaf stamp inside the base. The piece shows the classic serene closed eyes long flowing hair and soft facial modelling that Capodimonte artisans were known for during the mid century period. The porcelain is finished in a high gloss glaze with pastel colouring and delicate applied flowers at the neckline which are still intact. Her hands cross gently over her chest and the sculpted flowing drapery creates an elegant and peaceful display.
The green leaf mark inside your piece is a known Capodimonte-style mark used by several Italian porcelain studios from the 1960s onward. Its not the original 18th-century Royal Crown N mark, but one of the post-war Neapolitan makers who produced religious figurines, Madonnas and cherubs for export.
There is a handwritten decorator mark inside the piece as typically found on individually hand finished Capodimonte items. No chips or cracks noted and the glaze has a lovely even shine throughout. A beautiful devotional or display piece for collectors of Italian porcelain or religious art.
