Italy has a long tradition of making ceramics that feel less like vessels and more like sculpture. This substantial twin-handled vase is a fine example theatrical, ornate, and full of old-world character.
A large and impressive Italian ceramic vase in the Capodimonte style, marked on the base with the crowned N Capodimonte mark and Made in Italy. Standing 34 cm tall with a 24 cm width across the handles, this is a statement piece. The body features richly moulded Baroque-style raised relief panels a classical scene of reclining figures to the lower body, and a flying figure in the upper cartouche. The scrolled twin handles, scalloped rim with shell crest, and footed base are all characteristic of the ornate Italian Rococo-revival aesthetic. Glazed in warm cream, blush pink, terracotta orange, and soft green tones.
Condition: Good vintage condition overall the piece displays well. There is a visible hairline crack running across the inner rim area (clearly shown in images); this does not affect structural integrity for display purposes but is honestly disclosed. Some surface marks consistent with age.
