Vintage carnival glass bowl; 23 cm diameter; marigold colour; ruffled edge; "Curved Star" pattern on exterior; "Headdress" pattern on interior; most likely to have been produced by Brockwitz Glass Company in Germany in the heydays of carnival glass which were in 1920's. The Brockwitz factory stopped production of its high quality glassware in 1932 and the factory was given over to the production of glass weaponry for the war effort. The town on Brockwitz no longer exists; where the glass factory was located is now known as the town of Coswig. The Brockwitz factory was known for their high quality glassware and their carnival glass as having a high quality irridescent finish. This bowl is a good example of their beautiful irridescence. Carefully packed and shipped.
The bowl has a very slight mark on the base. According to carnival glass sources, this is a signature characteristic of Brockwitz items, caused by the smooth grinding of the base.
