INSTRUMENT USED BY CRICKET UMPIRES TO KEEP TRACK OF THE NUMBER OF BALLS BOWLED PER OVER AND NUMBER OF OVERS PLAYED USING THE THUMB WHEELS AT THE SIDE. MOST COUNTERS ARE DIGITAL TODAY ALTHOUGH MANUAL ONES CAN STILL BE FOUND. HARD TO ESTABLISH DATE AS THIS IS A 6 BALL PER OVER COUNTER AND ENGLAND PLAYED 6 BALL OVERS FROM 1902 TO 1938 AND THEN WENT TO 8 BALLS PER OVER UNTIL 1945 AND THEN BACK TO 6 BALLS. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE A VERY OLD ONE AS HUNTS COUNTY BATS NOW HAVE A 'C' IN THEIR LOGO WHICH THIS COUNTER DOES NOT HAVE. 9CM LONG AND WORKING PERFECTLY WITH NO DAMAGE.
