This fabulously vintage piece has a distinctly royal feel to it - featuring a large, oval-faceted 8 x 6mm garnet, flanked by two smaller (8 x 5mm) oval-faceted garnets, all claw set in 9ct yellow gold. The trilogy of garnets are separated by 3 x 1,5mm round cut silver topaz, bezel set in the textured ring head. The deep, tawny sherry colour of the garnets is rich, with great depth; the openwork below the gemstones allowing the maximum amount of light through to add to the colour. The 9ct polished yellow gold medium shank is narrower under the finger for comfort, broadening to the 9mm width of the ring head. The shoulders bear deeply etched decorative curlicues running up their length, adding an element of drama to the piece. The ring weighs solid 4,26 grams, bears the jeweller's signature, the assay hallmark for Birmingham, the 375 hallmark indicating 9ct gold, and the date mark for 1978. I have had the piece tested and evaluated by an independent jeweller at R14'000; and a certificate to that effect will accompany the piece. Its rather a special and definitely collectable piece of English vintage jewellery.
