This magnificent mid-20th century piece features a 0.63 carat square-cut dark blue sapphire claw set in 18 carat gold. The colour is unusual - blue in most lights but when turned into the light, the sapphire has the most unexpected and beautiful sea-green hue. The sapphire is surrounded by 12 single cut white diamonds, also claw set, that have been set in platinum. Together they total 0,18 carats. The 10mm x 10mm ring head reaches 5mm above the finger, and is set on a slim 18 carat yellow gold band that forks vertically on the shoulder to support the cage-like structure that holds the gemstones. The piece bears the 18K hallmark indicating 18ct yellow gold as well as the hallmark for platinum. The beautifully crafted ring weighs 3.14 grams and although not a huge ring head (10 mm X 10 mm) has a strong solid feel to it. Its a vintage piece and the small scuff marks are . I have had the ring tested and authenticated by an independent jeweller. His evaluation certificate for R10'000 will accompany the ring. A beautiful, elegant piece, lovely on the hand that will appeal to someone who appreciates real vintage pieces with a story to tell.
