A vintage Dorman Smith ParaLamp paraffin lamp, a robust industrial lantern originally designed for railway, roadworks or signalling applications. Finished in its original yellow paint, the lamp features red glass lenses on three sides to provide high visibility, while the fourth side incorporates a hinged access door for servicing the burner. The distinctive carrying hook and heavy-gauge steel construction reflect the quality and durability for which Dorman Smith lamps are well known.

Inside, the original paraffin burner is still present; however, the base of the burner has rusted away, and the lamp is therefore being sold as untested and for restoration or display purposes. The body has developed an attractive, authentic worn patina with areas of paint loss and age-related wear that enhance its vintage industrial character. The red glass lenses appear to be intact and display well.

This lantern would make an excellent addition to a collection of railwayana, industrial or signalling memorabilia and also offers great potential as an electrification project, allowing it to be sympathetically converted into a unique decorative lamp while preserving its vintage appearance.
