C 1949 - Vintage Emerson 558 Tube Radio - Portable Type
What a great find for the Collector! These radios are SCARCE, I have only seen this one in the last couple of years. It comes in its original box and a promotional leaflet. The radio is 7cm tall, and measures 21x10.5cm. Notice the lid of the radio does not close property and it does show age=related wear and tear. Mechanical Condition Unknown.

This pre-transistor portable would fit in a big coat pocket, but certainly not in your shirt. It was made in 1948 and it features a wonderfully compact internal design. The case flips open when you release a thin brass catch. Like other fliptops of this vintage, opening the top automatically turns the radio on.
