My favourite vintage jeweller in Birmingham found this lovely piece for me. It features 3 x large oval faceted fire opals claw set in 9ct yellow gold across the ring head. There is fabulous iridescence in all three opals - real rainbow fire. The middle opal is chipped right at the bottom - difficult to see without a magnifying glass, but if you study the photograph of the ring on the mirror closely you can just about see it. The ring head measures 15mm across x 7mm long x 4mm high, and sits on a cage of elongated claws that has openwork detail, allowing light through the gemstones. This is supported by the slender 9ct yellow gold shank. The piece is well-hallmarked: the Birmingham Assay mark, the jeweller's signature, 375 indicating 9ct gold and the date mark for 1970. The ring is well crafted and weighs 2 grams. Please note the large ring size.
Ring head: 15mm across x 7m long x 5mm high Weight: 2 grams Ring size: 10 ('T 1/2' in SA or British sizing)
Please look at the specifications carefully as the photography enlarges the jewellery!
