LARGE VINTAGE OVAL FACETED SOLITAIRE AMETHYST 9CT YELLOW GOLD RING. BEAUTIFULLY HAND CRAFTED. 375

This beautiful vintage piece is hand crafted in 9ct yellow gold. Featuring a large solitaire oval faceted amethyst of a whopping 7,6 carats (the gemstone is particularly deep claw from its table to the culet, or tip) set in 9ct yellow gold. The 18mm wide x 16mm long ring head is held 8mm above the finger on a coronet of slim extended claw. The slender shank splits vertically on the shoulders, forking into 3 to support the gemstone. The openwork beneath the stone allows a lot of light through the amethyst, maximising the sparkle. The pedigree of the piece is evident in the hallmarks: the jeweller's signature, the Birmingham Assay mark and the 375 hallmark indicating 9ct gold. The ring is in good condition, with just a few gentle buff marks in keeping with its age, and weighs a surprisingly hefty 5.20 grams! It is a beautiful classic piece of English vintage jewellery - large and showy because of its size and yet simple and elegant in design.
