This is an antique European Pewter double handled porringer with intricate ornamental handles and and a raised foot.
There are markings on both handles that resembles an angel as well as what would appear to be the initials of the firm who produced it, being J.M&S. Finding the exact answer seems to be a monumental task, we have however determined the following:
The Angel mark is often seen on continental European pewter, an unofficial high quality mark that also indicates that it is lead free. The Angel represents the Ore Angel Michael - a symbol of justice and often also has the firm's initials as label. From the many examples online this bowl could either be Dutch or German, the former being the most likely. We would guess, based on the design of the bowl, to it possibly dating from the Art Deco period, thus c1930.
The same mark appears on the base.
It is in a very good condition considering its age with the usual oxidation one would come to expect. There's no damage but signs of use and age with some hardly spots on the interior of the bowl. It measures about 20 cm across the handles, the bowl has a diameter of about 11 cm and a height (including the raised foot) of about 6 cm, the foot measures about 1.8 cm..
