Condition as photographed. Considering age would say good.

Please google the artist. His story is very interesting. Born in

Leiplig Germany on the 11/8/1873 he was interested in art from

an early age. Studied at the Academy of Saxony in Dresden where

he obtained his diploma in painting. Studied further in Italy

and Paris. During his studied he developed a chest ailment and at

the recommendation of his doctors took a ship to Luderitz Bay

This was in 1907. He found the light & atmosphere so different

to that of Europe that that he had to find & develop a new

technique (to express how he felt). After 3 years he moved to the

Boland, where Stellenbosch with its oak trees so enchanted him

the he decided to stay. His family joined him and they settled

there in 1910

He opened his own art school (School of Art G P Canitz, Stellenbosch). 

He passed away in 1959. South Africa regard him as one of our own

Framed behind clear glass. Measures height 48.5cm and the

length is 57cm
