A vintage weather recording station made by Adolf Thies of Germany - in perfect working order.
This station features a German-made wind-up clock mechanism that runs the drum for well over a week, and the nibs record the temperature and humidity on to the paper. The humidity is measured by the expansion and contraction of strands of horse hair, while the temperature is measured through the expansion and contraction of a metal ring. Both of these function, and are adjustable.
The station is generally in good condition, but the paintwork is chipped in places. Also, one of the pieces of glass for the recording section is missing, while another is chipped (these are simply flat pieces of glass, easily replaceable). One of the protecting bars over the instrument section is loose, but can be easily re-attached. It's 27cm long, 14cm wide and 24cm tall.
Please note: because this is a delicate instrument, I would urge you to send it via courier - R80 if you live in Durban, Gauteng or Cape Town, R120 for anywhere else in the country.
