Vintage Gillette New Aristocrat Razor (with case, O4, 1969)

This is a vintage Gillette New Aristocrat razor. The razor was made by GIllette in the USA. The date code is O 1 (First quarter of 1970). The design of the razor is based on the Gillette Super Adjustable model, but it has a gold plated head and handle end-cap.  These razors are extremely rare as they were only released in Japan in limited quantites. It was also the last of the GIllette Aristocrat razors. These razors are very hard to find and do not come up for sale often.

The razor is in excellent working confition. The twist to open mechanism works perfectly and the blade reveal is straight and even. This razor is in very good condition (9.5 / 10) .   The adjustment knob works perfectly. The numbers are still clear.  Tun the knob up to increase the blade and the aggression level. This razor  includes the original case. The case is covered with leather tone vinyl. The gold tone lettering is still clear and sharp. The case inlay is line with red Satin. There are some slight blemishes on the top of the case (see pictures). The overall condition is good given the age. Very rare to find the both razor and case intact. 

A note about the GIllette Adjustable razors: the guard doors must be opened before making any adjustment to the aggression level dial. 

Once the doors close, give the handle a further quarter (or so) turn to lock down the blade. 

The entire razor has been cleaned, oiled, and polished and buffed.  It is ready to shave  - just slot in a blade :) 

This is a classic piece of shaving history, and it's safe to say that they don't make them like this anymore.
